Lesson One - Your Bible
Focus: Romans 10:17 "So then
faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."
Provides foundational
teaching:
The teachings and parables of the Bible give us foundational
principles to live by. In Matthew chapter seven Jesus teaches the parable of the wise man that built his house on the rock. When the storms of life came his solid foundation
secured him. The Bible is the rock in which Christians are to build their lives on; it is our solid foundation.
Connects us to the voice of
God:
The Bible is more than just a collection of ancient
manuscripts; it is the written word of God. 2 Timothy 3:16 says, "all scripture is given by inspiration of God -" Reading the Bible connects us to the very
voice of God in our lives. By reading the Bible you are allowing God to to speak directly to you.
Leads us in our daily walk with
God:
We read our Bible daily so that it may lead us in our walk of
faith. Psalms 119:105 says, "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." The word of the Lord, like a bright light shining down a dark
road is our primary source of direction when situations in life get dark.
Action: Begin a daily Bible reading
system to read the entire Bible in one year.
